Welcome to National Institute of Design Collections Online

The NID Design Collections began with a group of objects that were part of the exhibition “Design today in America and Europe” assembled by the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 1959, on invitation by the Government of India, and handed over to NID in 1961. 

The collections have been growing, and today comprise of design objects, images, documents, and audio-video collections representing the history of modern design in India and its international linkages.
